Almost Home Dog Rescue and Rehab, Inc.
Almost Home Dog Rescue and Rehab is a charitable organization , an approved 501(c)3, in Central Vermont that is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of dogs from high kill shelters, dogs abandoned and dogs no longer wanted by their owners. Our focus is providing dogs with a safe haven by utilizing our home until a forever home has been secured. We will focus on behavioral issues and secure any necessary medical attention while they are in our care. We also operate as a not for profit sanctuary, providing forever homes to those dogs with medical issues, seniors, and behavioral issues that may not be adoptable.
Dogs being rescued from high kill shelters outside the state require special care before travel to Vermont. Not only will donations be used for transportation costs to get to Vermont, but also for necessary boarding (quarantine period before transportation), immunizations, health certificates, micro chipping, and other needs. Dogs will also be maintained in a quarantine situation for an additional two week period following their arrival to Vermont.
Any dogs leaving the hands of Almost Home Dog Rescue and Rehab will have had all necessary immunizations, spay/neutered, and deemed "healthy" by our veterinarian and contracts with their new forever homes.
Almost Home is opposed to euthanasia of dogs, unless deemed medically necessary, for the well being the dog or in extremely rare instances of highly aggressive behavior and the safety of humans. We are opposed to all animal cruelty and will not support any organization or human that supports or condones this behavior.
If you would like to provide a forever home to one of our rescues, please fill out our adoption application today. If you are unable to provide a home for a dog but would like to sponsor a dog, we can provide photos and updates on your sponsored dog.
